Welcome to Our Home!

Me (left) and Sarah (right) watching The Proposal with Sandra Bullock

Welcome home! Or, to our home! My name is Kimberly Kunda and I am a photographer living in Philadelphia. I am starting a brand new blog called "Home with My Love" to share pictures of what a real gay marriage is like. I hope to share our day to day life with you and to show how our lives are just like everyone else's. We are busy people, and madly in love. I plan not to censor our images. And to show you who we are without our make-up on and hair done. Just us. Ok, sometimes I might wear make-up. I can't help it. I like blush. Anyways, the real point is this. We live in Pennsylvania. A state where we have few to zero rights as a couple. Regardless of that, and because we love each other, we wanted to get married. And that's what we did. Sarah and I were married in Philadelphia in the presence of 200 family and friends on November 13, 2010, and then again in New York City on February 3, 2012 when we received our legal marriage certificate. I didn't want to not get a legal certificate  - for one, because it means A LOT. And second, because I am a worrier. I don't want anything to ever happen to my love and me not have the ability to be at her side. I love her fiercely. And I want to make sure the marriage laws change in our state. That's really why I am doing this. Despite being together more than eight years, we still have to fight the state and the country to recognize our relationship. I know people have been together a lot longer than us. And  I want to fight for you too. At the end of the day, I am hoping that maybe, just maybe, by sharing our personal lives, we can help shift hearts and change the political situation that limits our rights. I don't have the means to run for office. But I can blog. And I know we could move, but we don't really want to move to a different state where the laws are more in our favor. We love Pennsylvania. We have the best parks. And of course our families are here. We are obsessed with our families. We just love them so much. Anyways, today marks day one. Incidentally I also worked out today. Maybe you can tell? haha. Don't answer that. Thanks for visiting, and please come back often. :) I will also be profiling other couples who wish to be part of this project to show real gay and lesbian couples at home. Just being who we are. So, come on in! Can I get you something to eat or drink?

DAY 1
What did we do today? I mentioned that I worked out for the first time in 2 months since I hurt my back doing something mundane at my previous job (putting memory cards on the racks, so dumb I know)... anyways, I ran one whole, hot stinking mile. It was hard. And I sweated like I have never sweat before. It feels like it's 90 degrees today in Philly with 99 percent humidity. And Sarah did about 5 loads of laundry, folded to perfection. And washed the tub (it's beautiful and sparkling white!). I transferred images from memory cards to the computer from recent photo sessions (including a cute as a button Cinderella birthday party), and completed a Jillian Michael's workout. That woman is insane. Then made our "what's for dinner" list for both carnivore's and vegans for our July 3rd welcome home dinner party to celebrate my brother in law coming home from medical school. We can't wait to have our house filled with family and friends! We also have a puppy with an upset tummy, so we had to make beef and rice for her to inspire her appetite. We hope she just drank too much creek water. Also, today was "doing something that makes your soul happy" day. I worked out and started this blog, and Sarah repainted a painting she made for me for valentine's day. It was black and she painted it to color coordinate with the current colors of our home. Love it! She's the crafty one :).

and don't forget kitty gato, who took care of guarding the upstairs guest futon with true dedication.
with her eyes closed. that is until, she had her picture taken.
